22"x15" Oil On Linen

30% of the sale price of this painting will be donated to CASA. I have been a court appointed special advocate for several years. We are volunteers from all walks of life who are appointed by a judge to speak on behalf of abused and neglected children who are in the court system. CASA is operated on donations and needs all the help it can get. As I painted this piece I was thinking about the things human beings need, food and water, safety, a home with love and respect. So many of us take these things for granted, but for a child in the system these basic needs can seem out of reach, especially love, and we all deserve love. I absolutely love this painting. Not too long ago, I met a family that was helped by CASA. They were fostering a child who's drug addict biological mother had giving away her right to take care of the baby, but her father who was serving a 20 year prison charge refused to. He insisted the baby go to his family who all seemed to have a drug charge or two in in their own record. Eventually the baby got a home with the family that loved her took care of her for many years during this struggle. It was great to see how CASA was helpful to them.
